Teacakes and Tarot: An Anthology by Spell Jar Press has a wide swath of writers speaking to tarot and related topics. Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, photography, and illustrations are included and their interpretations intrigue. The tones range from fun, to insightful, to spellbinding. Each artist depicts the tarot in their unique way and with their experiences bleeding through. I have four poems included and after months away from them, rereading them causes me to pause and realize that my cards have shifted. Those readings in my poems resonate but I have continued my journey. The tarot is cyclic story at its heart and each of us included in the anthology has passed through the card or cards we clung to and have gone further into the cycle. The minor and major arcana detail our journey, and every author and artist marvelously depict their path with tarot archetypes or tarot themes. The tarot brings us to our most intimate and vulnerable selves and Teacakes and Tarot allows the reader into those worlds and introduces us to our own deck of knowledge. Whether one plays tarot as a game, as a skeptic, or as a devout believer, this anthology is for you. All perspectives are depicted, and the marvelous artwork is enough to stare at with our without a tarot deck to guide you.
