The Sealey Challenge Day 30: "Not a Princess But (Yes) There was a Pea..." Rebecca Buchannon

"Not a Princess But (Yes) There was a Pea & Other Fairy Tales to Foment Revolution" by Rebecca Buchannon has clever and precise poetry. Some poems di have an edge where the reader is meant to take action, not just learn a moral. Fairy tales are used to explore and even condemn modern problems--even the shoemaker's tale deals with sweatshop labor and how even his wife can look away and do nothing. I think these takes are clever as I said, but the precise comes in with the tone. There is no purple prose in the poetry. Each word adds clarity and adds to both the tale and message. I highly recommend.
